14. Killing Joke

Killing Joke Killing Joke by Killing Joke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Here's a classic post-punk, new wave album that I guess can be considered a forerunner to later industrial music like Nine Inch Nails. These anthem-like rock tunes incorporate synths coupled with fast rhythms that make for music that can only do the 80s a little justice.

I didn't discover "Requiem" in its original form initially. I originally heard the cover version by the Foo Fighters on "The Colour and the Shape" bonus disc. It was only until I actually sought out a Killing Joke album that I came away impressed. While Dave Grohl sings a decent version, the power and punch of the original surpasses the cover.

"Change" and "Bloodsport" are also great tracks with speed and rhythmic flashiness that add to the catchy factor. Check out the album if you haven't yet.
