Food & Liquor by Lupe Fiasco
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What I really love about Lupe Fiasco is that he is a socially conscious hip hop artist who doesn't just rap about women and bling. "The Cool", "He Say She Say", and "American Terrorist" are tracks that represent this.
Both "Kick, Push" and "Sunshine" are really stylish, cool tracks with a very appealing sound and very much touching on youth culture.
There are also a lot of guest appearances by several artists on this album including Jill Scott, Jay-Z, Gemini, Pharrell, and Matthew Santos.
Honestly, I'm not really big into rap, but artists like Lupe make it interesting, eclectic, and intelligent. I wish there were more hip hop artists at the forefront with this kind of consciousness in sound.
