22. White Blood Cells

White Blood Cells White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really like the sass and honesty of this album. I would say "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" would be my favorite track with "Expecting" and "I'm Finding It Harder to Be a Gentleman" coming in a close second and third. I like that Jack White complains about a woman in the third track. It seems I hear so many songs that go the other way around.

What I like most is how this album is all about the instruments. Guitar, drums, some keys and there you have it. There aren't over-the-top electronic manipulations, multiplying of vocals, or grand orchestras filling in the spaces in the background. While there isn't anything necessarily wrong with that, there also isn't anything wrong with just raw rock 'n' roll either.

This duo have enough power and punch to make their music sound as if there are 2 or 3 other people playing with them.
