My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is Incubus's second album - an old one before they really hit it big. While I can appreciate all the funkiness with the electronics and spacey playfulness of sound, this album isn't anywhere near a favorite. Don't get me wrong. I really love Incubus, but this album is a bit juvenile with the exception of "Summer Romance" which actually sounds more oriented for an older jazz lover audience.
"A Certain Shade of Green" manages a certain amount of dissonance with catchiness, but the lyrics are absurd at best. I will say that's better than writing something that's been heard a million times before though.
"My Favorite Things" is a good teenage revenge song, but nothing to get excited over. Even so, Brandon's vocals are still good no matter what he sings. Plus, he makes the chicks swoon.
